To better understand a city you need to check out its markets. That's where you can find the most authentic side of life. Palermo's markets, such as Ballarò and Capo are no exception. They have existed since the Middle Ages and they still remind us of the many different people and striking contrasts of Palermo. In the past they may have been a bit too rough and ready for a tourist tour, but today they are totally safe and absolutely unmissable! By telling you about the taste and flavours of our street food, I'll also be helping you to understand our history and the footprint left by all the different origins of people who have lived and passed through our island. Wandering through the alleys, we will also witness some great street ART and explain how what was once considered vandalism is now widely appreciated.
